Drag & Reorder

Kanban Move

When to use it

Showcasing drag-to-reorder UI patterns, kanban onboarding demos, or project-management feature previews.

When not to

Production task management — auto-demo loop and fixed card set must be removed and replaced with real data before shipping.

Working with an AI agent

Every component ships agent-ready metadata. An example instruction for this one:

Change the demo interval from 2200ms to 1400ms, add a fourth column, and swap the accent color from cyan (#22d3ee) to violet (#a855f7). Theme: dark tokens live in :root, the light variant in :root[data-theme="light"]; ?theme=light or a {type:'forever:theme'} postMessage switches at runtime.

Safe to edit

  • demo interval (2200ms in setInterval)
  • column count (COLS=3)
  • accent color (--dr02-acc)
  • spring stiffness (0.18) and damping (0.34)
  • initial card layout (layout array)
  • theme tokens (:root dark defaults + [data-theme=light] overrides)

Keep intact

  • FLIP engine (flipReorder + measure functions)
  • IIFE wrapper
  • prefers-reduced-motion static fallback
  • visibilitychange pause
  • theme hook (?theme= bootstrap + forever:theme message listener + theme tokens)
  • demo-v1 preview lifecycle: initialize demoEnabled from window.__foreverPreview and stop attract work on the window forever:interactive event; retain manual feedback, settling, cleanup and explicit sessions

Known limitations

  • First deliberate input permanently disables idle demo; manual input, finite feedback and settling remain active. Host demoEnabled=false skips the initial attract cycle.
  • Card content is decorative CSS pseudo-elements only — no real text
  • Pointer drag uses column-width snapping, not pixel-precise drag
  • State remains local to each mounted instance; format/theme remount preserves takeover, not component values.

  • Carousel ThrowSeven colored cards orbit a glowing hub in a radial ring; drag to fling with angular inertia, release to snap to the nearest card under the marker.
  • Drag Handle5 dark rows with grip handles spring-animate to new positions when dragged or arrow-keyed; the lifted row glows cyan and scales up slightly.
  • Spring Physics StackPriority queue you reorder by dragging: the lifted row tilts with pointer velocity and neighbours spring into place.
